DV8 or 8-a-side Blitzes are held every year by the Irish American Football Association as Charity Events.

In 2010, the Charity Shield was held in aid of the Stroke Association off Northern Ireland, at Aircraft Park, Holywood Road, Belfast, on Sunday, August 29.

The Players and teams were promoting the FAST (Facial weakness, Arm weakness, Speech Problems, Time to call 999) campaign to raise awareness of stroke detection.
