The Badminton Ireland National Championships have been running since 1912, with breaks for the First World War (1915-1919), the Great Depression (1928-1931) and the Second World War (1937-1947).

The most Championships won in the Men’s Singles have been Michael Watt (9: 1991-1992; 1994; 1996-1998; 2000; 2002 & 2005), Scott Evans (8: 2006-2013), James Doyle (8: 1954-1961), Robert Harris (6: 1963-1966; 1968; 1970), John Taylor (5: 1974-1975; 1980; 1982-1983), Nhat Nguyen (4: 2016-2018; 2020), Liam McKenna (4: 1987; 1989-1990; 1993), Frank Peard (4: 1950-1953).
