Ireland Water Polo Women’s Premier League Results 2nd Round 2014-15 [Ref: 1]

Report

The Ireland Water Polo Women’s Premier League was won in 2014-15 by St. Vincent’s with a perfect 10 wins from 10 matches. With a uneven 9 teams entering it was decided to split the league after one round robin of 8 matches into a Championship Group (Group A) and Consolation Group (Group B). UCC pulled out after 6 matches, and had their results expunged. The top four teams that qualified for Group A were St. Vincent’s (21 Pts), Cathal Brugha (18 Pts), Donegall Diamonds (15 Pts) and Glenalbyn (12 Pts). The Title wasn’t, however decided until the final full week, when St. Vincent’s beat Glenalbyn 10-5 and Cathal Brugha 21-7, before finishing off two weeks later with a 15-3 defeat of Donegall Diamonds.

In an extremely close race for the 2014-15 Ireland Water Polo Men’s Premier League title, Half Moon finished on 27 pts, just ahead of St. Vincent’s B (25), Sandycove (24) and Cathal Brugha (22). North Dublin, Clonard and St. Vincent’s (A) were the other competing teams.

The Championship wasn’t decided until the last full weekend of matches, when Half Moon defeated North Dublin 14-6, which completed a run of seven victories in a row for the Sandymount, Dublin 4, club.

The Irish Water Polo Association was organised on a National League and knockout Championship basis like the GAA until more recently. The Ladies Irish Championship was won by Cathal Brugha, who beat Half Moon 6-5 in the Final, after winning 11-3 against Glenalbyn in the Semi-Finals, held over the course of a weekend in April 2003 in Leisureland in Galway.

The Stars were top of the Roller Hockey League after two games in 1995, with a 7-3 win over the Roadrunners and a 7-2 defeat of The Wolves. Mighty Ducks were in second place with a win and a draw, and then the Raptors and Roadrunners with one win each. The Wolves, with one point and the winless Bulldogs propped up the table.

Basketball Ireland Women’s Colleges League Division 1 Regular Season Results 2013-14 [Ref: 1]

Report

Dublin City University captured the 2013-14 Basketball Ireland Women’s Colleges League title after defeating Cork IT 72-52 in the Final. DCU had overcome University College Cork 64-45 in the Semi-Finals and Cork IT had received a walkover from University of Ulster Jordanstown.

The Regular Season Northern Conference title was taken by DCU with a 7-1 Wins-Losses record, and Cork IT had won all six of their matches to take the Southern Conference Championship.
