Season Recap
Regular Season Recap
University of Limerick Vikings made a statement about returning to the Premier Division by winning all eight regular season games, including a crucial 12-6 victory at Louth Mavericks, previously also undefeated. Mavericks, another once-Premier team had the edge in points scored-points allowed: 292-43 to 205-50 during the regular season, and a probable meet-up in the Division 1 Bowl was anticipated. Cill Dara Crusaders finished third on 5-3, with all losses coming versus the top two teams: twice against UL Vikings (6-23 on March 19 and 0-19 on June 18), and once versus Louth Mavericks (0-34 on April 30).
The bottom half of the table featured three Ulster teams and West Dublin Rhinos, who finished in fourth on 3-5, thanks to a final weekend 28-0 victory at Donegal / Derry Vipers. The Vipers finished 2-6 below the NI Razorbacks of Castlereagh, who finished 3-5 like the Rhinos but had lost 0-24 to the West Dublin outfit on April 2. Antrim Jets finished 0-8, though managed to score versus both Razorbacks and Crusaders. [References: S-1]
