Report

The Dublin Tornadoes won their second Shamrock Bowl in a row, beating Carrickfergus Knights 18-13 in SB IX in Newry on the 25th of September 1994. They had only lost one game all season, to the Knights, going 5-1, with Carrickfergus also only losing to the Tornadoes. Lurgan Area Raiders, who had sprung up out of the ashes of the Craigavon Cowboys, won two matches, with the Belfast Spartans finishing bottom of the four team league.

The Knights were an unknown quantity coming into the season, having developed from the Prospect Pumas Junior Kitted team, which had been formed in Carrickfergus in 1988. The Dublin Celts folded after Shamrock Bowl VIII and the Lee Valley Steelers from Cork, had also dropped after the 1993 season out leaving the league at four teams.

About

The 1994 season was the ninth season of the Irish American Football League, and the fifth under the Authority of the American Football Association of Ireland as the All-Ireland American Football League. There were four teams in the League, down from six in 1993. The League played a balanced home & away schedule for 6 regulsr season games. the top two qualified for the Shamrock Bowl.

New Teams: Lurgan Area Raiders (replaced Craigavon Cowboys in Mid-Ulster)

Non-Returning Teams: Craigavon Cowboys, Dublin Celts, Lee Valley Steelers.
