Final: Ballincollig 69 Keanes SuperValu Killorglin 64
An All-Munster Final between Cork’s Ballincollig and Kerry’s Killorglin served up a thriller. Three times the sides were level in the fourth quarter, but 11 points from Ballincollig’s Cameron Clark in the final ten minutes and a timely block by Ronan O’Sullivan with 15 seconds to go sealed the Corkk sides first ever National Title. Clark was named MVP for his 29 point total, and Killorglin could consider themselves unlucky to have come up against him. It was Killorglin’s first appearance at this level and Kevin Gray was well up to the task of matching Clark, putting up back-to-back three-pointers to get Killorglin into the game, and the battle between Gray and Clark win the first quarter was one of the features of the match. Daniel Jokubaitis scored 27 points to top-score for Killorglin and get them back into striking distance during an 11-0 run of points in which he scored seven. Late in the third Gray put Killorglin 46-45 ahead to the delight of the Kerry fans, however, Ciaran O’Sullivan levelled for Ballincollig from the three-point line, and Ballincollig dug deep to win the game 69-64 in what O’Sullivan described as a “dogfight”.
