The Belfast Spartans included numerous players selected to play for Ireland including Jerry Mulholland, who went on after playing to become Head Coach of the Belfast Bulls from 2000 to 2001. He played Outside Linebacker (#56) and Tight End (#84). Jerry was also Head Coach of the Belfast Junior Spartans from 1987 to 1992. [Ref: 1]

Another Belfast Spartans player was Robert “Bert” McCormack, who founded the team in 1984, and continued playing until 1999. He played Defensive End, Linebacker, Offensive Guard and Special Teams. [Ref: 1]

Another Belfast Spartans player was David Hallowell, who was knicknamed “Snuffy”, as he used to get up other players noses, although he said himself he used to like all the other players. Played from 1984 to 1988 or 1989 as Halfback, Corner Back and 2nd String Quarterback. Only 5’9″ tall and 10 Stone weight.
