RECAP

After the CAAFA – Central Asian American Football Association – was set up in 2002 by the intrepid American with the Irish name, Tom Kelly, a number of Flag Football Games were played between the KIMEP team from Almaty, Kazakhstan, and a World and American Embassy Teams. In 2004 a team was set up in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and in 2005 enough kit brought in to provide for two teams: Bishkek Barsy Leopards (Kyrgyzstan) and Almaty KIMEP Titans (Kazakhstan) who played each other in front of 1,000 fans at the Spartak Stadium in Bishkek, with KIMEP winning 14-12. Another fixture in November 2005 finished in a 20-20 tie. The following year in 2006 games were played in both Almaty and Bishkek as the rivalry continued.
