In week 2, however, they lost to two 3rd quarter touchdowns to the Dublin Tigers, and in week 3, struggled to a 14-10 win against the Broncos in the return game, with plenty of errors.

The Knights came back strongly in Week 5, inflicting the heaviest defeat on the Dublin Tigers in their two year history, the Carrickfergus side inflicting a 36-0 win. The two sidesmet again in Shamrock Bowl XIV, a repeat of the 1998 Shamrock Bowl, with the Tigers running out victors this time.
