Recap
BC Lions got their first win of the season as Michael Reilly, a player with an Irish name, was named before the game as starter ahead of Nathan Rourke, another Irish-named player.
The Lions took an early lead after Takeru Yamasaki missed a 22 yard field goal attempt that went through the back of the endzone for one point (Rouge), and then completed a 20 yard field goal later in the first quarter for a 4-0 lead. Rene Paredes got a field goal back for Calgary, but it was not until the second quarter that the first touchdown was scored, Michael Reilly sneaking in from the one yard line after two big passing plays to Lucky Whitehead, 43 and 13 yards, to give BC a 12-3 edge at halftime.
Rene Paredes halved the BC advantage with a second 48 yard field goal in the third quarter, and then Yamasaki and Paredes traded field goals before Jalon Edwards-Cooper picked off a Bo Levi Mitchell pass with less than a minute left to end Calgary’s hopes of a comeback.
Mitchell was intercepted four times for the first time in his career while Reilly went 26 of 33 passing for 342 yards.
