Recap

In an important match between the two second placed teams in each division the 3-1 Panthers Wroclaw visited the 2-2 Cologne Centurions and Cologne held on for the win in a close encounter, running out the clock for a 33-31 victory.

The Panthers had opened the scoring with a 14 yard reception by B Dziedric from L O’Connor to give them a 6-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw Cologne take a slender 7-6 lead with the first of M London’s four touchdowns in a sterling display by the runningback. The Panthers hit back, however, scoring on an M Herndon run and a T Leader Field Goal to put them 16-7 up at the half.

The Second Half opened with L O’Connor again connecting with one of his receivers, P Banat this time to give Wroclaw a 22-7 lead. Cologne scored an important Interception Return for 20 yards to the Panthers endzone to give bring Cologne within eight points. P Steffen the man responsible for the pick six off L O’Connor. M London then scored his second to bring the Centurions to within two points but Wroclaw extended the lead to five points with a Field Goal to end the third quarter.

The Final Quarter began with M London scoring his third and fourth touchdowns of the match, from 11 and 2 yards to put Cologne 33-25 up. D Schumacher scoring an important point after touchdown kick to mean Panthers had to go for the more risky two-point conversion to tie the match after M Herndon’s 6 yard TD run had brought the score to 33-31. The two-point run attempt by M Herndon failed however, and Cologne joined Wroclaw on a 3-2 record
