46 Countries entered the Asia Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar 2022. In Irish interest in the Asia Zone (countries where Irish players play professionally), Australia lead at mid-August in Group A, Iran are in third place in Group C, 5 points behind Iraq, India are in fourth place in Group D, 10 points adrift of Qatar and 9 behind Oman, and Singapore are in third place in Group B, 2 points behind Uzbekistan. Brunei Darussalam were knocked out in the first round by Mongolia.
Six rounds of matches have been played of 10 rounds (8 games in total per team)
