Position:Lineman National : Cork Admirals (Irish American Football League) 2004, Dublin Dragons (Irish American Football League) 2005 Biography: Glenn Baker started playing American Football at the age of 16 for the Cork Admirals, the following year his family moved to near Athlone in Co. Roscommon so he switched allegiance to the Dublin Dragons based in Lucan, Co. South Dublin. He was selected for the Irish National Squad and raised €4,000 for charity by climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain. With his ability and size (6 foot 6 inches and 23 stone) he came to the attention of American Scouts, and won a scholarship to Prep School, the Cheshire Acadmey Cats in Connecticut and from there Division 3 National Collegiate Athletic Association side Mount Ida Mustangs near Boston, where he enrolled in a Computer Animation course, where he had to keep up a 3.4 GPA in Academc Studies to remain eligible for the football team. |
