Report

In the early days of American Football in Ireland, before pads and helmets, pick-up games were organised in University College Dublin, Marlay Park (Rathfarnham) and St. Paul’s Park, Raheny. Dublin Celts became the first team in Ireland to become fully kitted in 1985, and while not playing International matches against Wirral Wolves and Newcastle senators from England, played matches among their own members in Raheny. One such match, just after New Years Day in 1986, featuring Irish Press reporter Sean Mannion, ended one Touchdown each.
