Report

Buhos Colima and Patriotas Chihuatlan won their respective groups (Red and Green) in the Zona Occidente (Western Zone) in the LEXFA (Liga Extrema de Football Arena) Mexico League in 2013.

Patriotas may be a reference to those who fought against the invading United Sates Army in the Mexican-US war of 1847, when John Riley, an Irish-American crossed the border to fight for the mainly Catholic Mexico, along with a band of soldiers, who fought under the banner ‘Battalón de San Patricio’.

LEXFA is an Arena (8v8 Indoor) version of American Football that has become quite popular in Mexico. A team called the Irish, who used the Notre Dame Fighting Irish logo played in a lower division in the National League.
