Cruz Azul won the inaugural Leagues Cup – a North American Soccer Cup featuring the top four sides from Major League Soccer (USA & Canada) and Liga MX (Mexico) after the Champions – in 2019 by defeating Tigres UANL 2-1 in an all-Mexico Final in Las Vegas. LA Galaxy had been the only MLS side to reach the Semi-Finals from the Quarter-Finals which pitted Liga MX sides against MLS teams.

The North American Football Union (now defunct) was a regional Association Football (Soccer) Union comprising the Federations of Mexico, USA and Canada.
