History: One of the Original Seven Ice Hockey Teams in Ireland, the Shorts & Harland Raiders were composed mainly of Canadian players stationed in Northern Ireland during World War II, although the also included Irish players from the mostly Catholic, Nationalist parts of Belfast. They had two wins from 6 matches in the Northern Ireland Ice Hockey League of 1940. Scored a shock 1-0 win on the last weekend of the regular season against the Balmoral Tigers which cost the Tigers the title and pushed the Raiders up to third place ahead of the Thorntons Wasps.
