Report

In what was the first Youth Kitted American Football game in Scotland in 12 years, the Dundee Storm defeated Strathclyde Hawks 40-0 on 18th February 2001. The Hawks were renamed Clyde Valley Hawks for a match at home to Moray Firth Dolphins of Inverness at the end of April, which the Dolphins won 18-6. With the teams then participating in the British Youth American Football Association Youth Kitted League, the last fixture of an Unofficial Scottish Championship was played in Inverness in August, with Dundee Storm running out 38-6 winners. Ian Moody, a player with a possible Irish name and therefore possible Irish connection played for Dundee Storm.

In a series of preseason and friendly matches among Scottish 7v7 American Football teams in 2001, the newly formed Dundee Hurricanes triumphed 20-12 versus Dundee Storm in the first ever American Football derby in Dundee, just prior to their competitive debut in the UK 7v7 League. Later, in August, Dundee Storm travelled with their Junior Kitted team to Inverness to play Ness Monsters, winning 26-0, while their juniors won 38-6 earlier in the day against the Moray Firth Dolphins.
