Report

UCD won the Volleyball Association of Ireland National League Premier Men’s in 2015-16 with 28 points from 12 matches, five ahead of nearest challengers Ballymun Patriots Eagles, with third placed DVC Bravo (Dublin Volleyball Club) a further point back. They went 10-2 in wins-losses, their only losses coming in Week 6 to DVC PM and Week 9 to Ballymun Patriots. NUIG Alliance (National University of Ireland Galway) were relegated after finishing with four points from one win and one overtime loss in their 12 matches, their sole victory coming against Tallaght Rockets in the 13th of 16 weeks. That was not enough to prevent them finishing 4 points behind the Rockets. DVC PM and Ballymun Patriots finished mid-table. Aer Lingus Saints and Garda were promoted from Division 1 for the 2016-17 season, while new team Naas Eagles were formed from the successful Schools programme in the Co. Kildare town. They replaced DVC PM and Ballymun Patriots Eagles in the Premier as each club had only one team in the Premier for the 2016-17 season.
