Report
Ireland had high hopes in this tournament, and were on top of the group after the first day, goals from Declan McGuinness and Michael Grace giving the boys in green a 2-0 win over Scotland.
Ireland were leading 1-0 over England in the second game until time added on, when England scored an equaliser through Wiggans. Ireland’s goal had been scored by Michael grace on the hour mark.
Ireland were still top of the group going into the final day, and could have qualified for the finals with a draw, but lost to two Dutch goals.

The UEFA Regions cup is an amateur tournament for representative teams for regions in Europe. Countries with no regional structure, fewer than 5 regional leagues or fewer than 1,000 registered players are represented by their country (this list includes Latvia, Luxembourg, Israel, Malta, San Marino and Republic of Ireland (ROI then had Leinster FA, Munster FA, Connacht FA and Ulster FA).
32 Countries competed in the competition in 1999. the Republic of Ireland then had 34 regional amateur leagues with 70,700 registered players. England were represented by Cheshire County, Nethelands by District West II and Scotland by West of Scotland Region.
