About the All American Football League 2008
The All American Football League was headquartered in Atlanta. Georgia and intended to start play in 2008 as a compliment to both the National Football League (NFL) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), playing by NCAA rules. It had six teams located in Major Stadiums, mostly in the South of the United States of America (Houston, Little Rock, Knoxville, Gainesville, Birmingham) with one team in the Midwest (Detroit, Michigan). Teams were named after the State they were located in but had no nicknames, instead being known as Team Alabama, Team Arkansas, Team Florida, Team Michigan, Team Tennessee and Team Texas.
The draft went ahead on January 26th 2008 as planned, with the opening game scheduled for April 2008, but on March 13th, 2008 the League gave a press release announcing the postponement of the start date until 2009. The arrival of the United Football League which played from 2009 to 2011 may have been the factor which ended the All American Football League before it started, as the AAFL never got off the ground.
