There were five major shocks in the first weekend of National Collegiate Athletic Association Division 1 Football Championship ties, with University of California at Davis Aggies pulling off a 19-17 win at Tulsa Golden Hurricanes of the Football Bowl Subdivision. Fellow Big Sky Conference member Montana Grizzlies pulled off a huge shock with a 13-7 victory at Washington Huskies of the Pacific-12 Conference, one of the FBS Power 5 Conferences that play for the National Championship. South Dakota State Jackrabbits of the Missouri Valley Conference defeated Colorado State Rams of the FBS Mountain West Conference 42-23. Holy Cross Crusaders of the Patriot League won 38-28 at FBS Independent Connecticut Huskies. Meanwhile another huge win for the FCS was East Tennessee State Buccaneers’ 23-3 win at Vanderbilt Commodores of the mighty Power 5 Southeastern Conference of the FBS.
