Recap
After an opening period where the only score was a single on Joel Whitford’s Punt which was conceded after being called dead for Hamilton, Saskatchewan blew the game apart in the second period with two touchdowns and a field goal to take a 17-8 halftime lead.
First Cody Fajardo scored on a 14 yard run for the Roughriders before the Ti-Cats replied through Jeremiah Masoli’s Quarterback sneak from 1 yard out to put Hamilton back up by one. Brett Lauther put the Roughriders in front with a 19 yard Field Goal before Cody Fajardo connected with Mitchell Picton from 8 yards out with 48 seconds left to give Saskatchewan a 17-8 cushion.
The Roughrider lead was padded in the third quarter with another Cody Fajardo scoring pass, this time to Kyran Moore, a player with an Irish name, as Saskatchewan built a 27-8 lead at the end of the quarter, adding another Brett Lauther Field Goal before the final period. Lauther added his third Field Goal of the night in the fourth to make the Final Score Saskatchewan Roughriders 30 Hamilton Tiger-Cats 8.
Jeremiah Masoli went 17-of-25 for 135 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions as he made way for Dale Evans late in the game for Hamilton. In contrast Cody Fajardo also went 17 of 25 but threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns to lift Saskatchewan to 2-0. Hamilton dropped to 0-2.
