The Potato Bowl was a Charity American Football All-Star game in Hokkaido, North Japan, which ran until its’ 45th year in 2018. The Workers All-Stars won the Bowl from 2013 to 2015, and the Student All-Stars from 2016 to 2018, with 2017 cancelled due to rain. There was a Curtain Raiser from 2013 to 2015 featuring a High School Game. The match was in aid of Physically Handicapped Children.
About the Hokkaido American Football Association
The Hokkaido American Football Association is one of 25 Local American Football Associations in 9 of Japan’s Districts and Areas. It forms a level below the Japan American Football Association which runs Collegiate and Social (Corporation) Leagues. The Hokkaido American Football Association runs the Hokkaido Student League, Hokkaido Workers League, Hokkaido High School Championship, and the Hokkaido Flag Football League. According to John Gunning of American Football International and the Japan Times Hokkaido is famous for its potatoes and Ireland and Hokkaido are the 20th and 21st biggest islands in the World.
