Report
Shamrock Rovers finished 7th in the Premier Division of the League of Ireland in 1996-97. A. Cousins top scored with 16 goals from 33 appearances in the League, as well as 1 goal in each of the Cups (FAI Cup and League Cup). Rovers exited at the Second Round of the FAI Harp Lager Cup, losing 1-0 away to Waterford United after beating Limerick 5-4 in Extra-Time in Round 1.
