Report

Ireland started their campaign with a loss to Montenegro who would go on to win all 10 games in the group. Three wins for the Irish followed, 67-59 against Slovenia, 79-65 away to Switzerland and 68-59 against Iceland. A loss to the Netherlands followed before a narrow three point loss to the all-conquering Montenegro.

Ireland then had two more victories against Slovenia and Switzerland, but lost away to Iceland, a disappointing result which ruled the Irish Women out of a Playoff spot. Ireland won their last game against the Netherlands 67-62, showing that they could have indeed qualified for the Playoffs.

Report

Ireland won their Division B Qualifying Group with a 4-2 record, beating Malta twice and getting victories at home to Slovakia and Switzerland. Ireland needed to win by 13 points in their last group game to top the table on points difference ahead of Slovakia and Switzerland and did just about enough, beating Slovakia 82-68.

Ireland thus qualified for the Qualification Games Playoff with Denmark to determine who would go forward to the Semi-Final Round and after a promising first leg in the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght, Ireland were 14 points up having won 80-66, but it was not to be enough as the Danes pulled out an 86-70 win in Aarhus the following week to go through ny 2 points.

Report

This was to be Ireland’s last International outing until 2016, as Basketball Ireland put the National Program on hold to facilitate paying off the €1.4 Million debt it had accrued.

Ireland won two matches against Luxembourg, but otherwise had a disappointing campaign, losing all other 6 matches, only really coming close against Slovakia (two 7-point losses.).
