Irish Ice Hockey League A League Results 2009-10 [Ref: 1-11]

Report

Charlestown Chiefs and Dundalk Bulls finished joint top of the Irish Ice Hockey League A League in 2009-10 with 5 Wins and 1 Loss each, after winning one game against each other and winning all four other games played each.

The League was cut short by the decision by the other three teams in the League – Castlereagh Spartans (Dundonald, Castlereagh), Dublin Rams and Flyers IHC (Dublin) to pull out of the League after Christmas for various reasons.

This left the League with the decision to play a single game, on Saturday, 8th May 2010, between the Charlestown Chiefs and Dundalk Bulls for the Championship.

The chiefs were comfortable winners on the night, going two goals up after three minutes thanks to Aigars Brencis and Viktors Serdjukovs and by the end of the first period it was 4-0 with two further goals added by the Chiefs.

In the second period the Chiefs added another three goals from Serdjukovs again, Viktors Vaiciulionis, and Patrick Buda. That left the score 7-0 going into the Final Period. The Third period saw the Chiefs increase their tally to 12, although the Bulls scored two consolation goals.

With the Final score 12-2 the Charlestown Chiefs were crowned IIHL A League Champions for 2009-10 and Viktors Serdjukovs and Sean Dooley picked up Man of the Match Awards for the Chiefs and Bulls respectively.
