Sainan Gakuin Green Dolphins won the Kyushu Collegiate American Football Association (KCAFA) title with a perfect 5-0 record, which enabled them to progress to the West Japan Playoffs of the Japan Collegiate American Football Association. Kyushu Institute of Technology Wild Geese won Division 2B but lost the Division 2 1st Place Playoff to Division 2A Champions Teacher Education Fukuoka Lions 28-7. Kyushu is the biggest island in the South West of Japanese Archipelago and one of the four big islands in Japan.
Wild Geese is the name given also in Ireland to Irish Patriots who fled Ireland at the time of the Plantations by England in Ireland and the Treaty of Limerick in order to seek help from Continental Europe and the Pope in Rome. The Wild Geese remained in exile and the name Wild Geese can still refer to Irish people living abroad.
