About

The Madden NFL Computer Game Franchise is a computer simulation of American Football, licensing real National Football League players and teams – it is named after John Madden, a former player and commentator who licensed his name for use in the Computer Games and took part in some of the creation of it.

The IAFL Shamrock Bowl Simulation is what happened after the Irish American Football League inputed all the data for the 2008 IAFL Shamrock Bowl players into the game and played a simulation of the Shamrock Bowl. Dublin Rebels beat University of Limerick Vikings 25-14

Report

Irish American Football League teams graduated to playing National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III teams in 2004, showing a marked improvement on their first outings in the 1980s and 1990s against American opposition.

The Tallaght Outlaws created History in 2007, becoming the first Irish Club to play NCAA opposition, losing to Claremont-McKenna Stags of California 67-0. [3]

Over the next three years the Dublin Rebels lost twice to Midwestern All-Star teams – one from Chicago and one representing a Midwestern Conference. [4][16]

In 2012 Trinity College would lose by 50-odd points to the New England Ironmen, while the UL Vikings similarly lost to Wisconsin-Eau Claire. [5][6]

2014 saw Centre College Colonels pay the first of two visits to Ireland, not holding back in a 90-0 defeat of the Dublin Rebels. [7] They would return in 2017 beating the Belfast Trojans 47-0.[11]  The Rebels would also lose heavily in 2018 to Dubuque Spartans from Iowa. [15]

In between these matches the Belfast Trojans would come the closest an Irish team has ever come to beating a US team, losing to the Sewanee Tigers of Kentucky 27-26 [8]. They entertained another American College, Augustana Vikings from Illinois in 2019, losing 65-0.
