Week 1 – 31 March 

Belfast Knights 23 Dublin Rebels 14 – Belfast Knights built up a good lead in the first quarter from a Zed Run and Michael Kane 40 yard reception. They added a third TD in the 2nd Quarter when the Rebels muffed a punt and the Knights recovered at the 10yd line, with Marty Caskey gaining a TD reception from the ensuing play from Chris Bondi. The Rebels finally got on the scoreboard with 4 seconds left in the first half, with the QB sneaking in for a TD.

Week 1 – 28 April

Belfast Knights 13 South Dublin Panthers 30 – The South Dublin Panthers held a slender 9-7 lead going into the third quarter. The Knights went ahead at the start of the 4th quarter with a TD, but the Panthers immediately went back in front with a TD run that went the entire length of the pitch. After scoring a Field Goal, the Panthers then recovered a fumble with the resulting drive ending in another Touchdown, which was converted, making the score 26-13

Antrim Jets 46 Causeway Giants 0 – A huge shutout win for the Jets as they moved to 5-1 for the season. QB Scot McLean scored three rushing TDs and added a passing TD to Runningback Connell Jackson. Robert Newman scored three rushing Touchdowns aswell, and there were 2-point conversions from Newman and wide receiver Ciaran Higgins. The defense put up their third shutout of the season, with 2 interceptions from Kyle Fenton, among many on the day.

Home Ground: Civil Service GAA Grounds, Islandbridge

Colours: Red Jerseys/ White Pants with Red Stripe/ White Helmet with Black and Red Stripes

History: Formed out of the ashes of other Dublin Clubs in 1995, they played three seasons, winning the Shamrock Bowl in 1996, defeating the Dublin Tornadoes 26-8, and reaching the playoffs the other two years. They left the American Football Association of Ireland in 1997, intending to return under the new administration in 2002, but never did [22]. They did, however, play in a blitz in 1998 with the Queen’s University Belfast Broncos and Belfast Lasers.

Dublin Bulls | Irish American Football Team 1997

IAFL Senior Team 1997

Home Ground: Gateway Computers, Clonshaugh, Co. Dublin

Colours: Black Jerseys/ White Pants with Black Stripe/ White Helmet with Black Stripe

History: Formed as the Gateway Bulls, by employees of Gateway Computers, then changed their name to Dublin Bulls after taking a number of former Dublin Tornadoes players on board. The Bulls played one season in 1997, posting a 5-3 record, and eventually losing to the Carrickfergus Knights in Shamrock Bowl XII. [1][2]

They merged with the newly formed Dublin Tigers in 1998. [1]

Ardee Falcons Irish 8-a-side American Football Team 1993

Home Ground: Monastery National School, Ardee, Co. Louth

Colours: Silver Jerseys/ Silver Pants with Red Stripe/ Silver Helmet

History: 8-a-side Development League Team from Co. Louth that competed in 1993. Played in the DV8 Development Mini-League in 1993 alongside Dublin Tornadoes Vets, Limerick Patriots and Lee Valley Steelers (Cork). Played a 0-0 tie with the Dublin Tornadoes Vets in front of 5,000 fans in Westport, Co. Mayo in an Irish-American 4th July Festival match, in what is still a record for an Irish American Football League match.

Lurgan Area Raiders | Irish American Football Team 1994-1995

Colours: Black Jerseys/ Black Pants with Silver Stripe/ Silver Helmet with Black Stripe

History: Founded after the Craigavon Cowboys went on hiatus. The Lurgan Area Raiders adopted the Silver-and-Black image of the NFL’s LA Raiders, as well as making reference to the name. They played two seasons in the mid-nineties, winning 2 of a total of 13 games.
