History: Sponsored by Thornton’s during World War II, the Balmoral Wasps were one of the Original Seven Ice Hockey teams in Ireland, playing in the Northern Ireland Ice Hockey League of 1940 and resurected in 1949 for the new Irish Ice Hockey Association. Finished runners-up to Harlandic wolves in the Challenge Series of 1949-50 after beating the Belfast Eagles twice in a three-game series. Were possible winners of the IIHA season in 1950-51 with two wins and one tie known that they played.

History: One of the Original Seven Ice Hockey Teams in Ireland, the Shorts & Harland Raiders were composed mainly of Canadian players stationed in Northern Ireland during World War II, although the also included Irish players from the mostly Catholic, Nationalist parts of Belfast. They had two wins from 6 matches in the Northern Ireland Ice Hockey League of 1940. Scored a shock 1-0 win on the last weekend of the regular season against the Balmoral Tigers which cost the Tigers the title and pushed the Raiders up to third place ahead of the Thorntons Wasps.

History: One of the Original Seven Irish Ice Hockey Teams in the Ulster Ice Hockey League of 1940, the Harlandic Wolves played until 1951 and possibly afterwards. They were sponsored by Harland & Wolff Ship-Builders and initially were made up mostly of Canadians stationed in Northern Ireland during World War II. They won the League & Gaston Cup in 1940.
