Hockey has been played in Ireland in various forms for hundreds of years, and possibly had the same origins as Hurling.
Until recently there were Men’s and Women’s Leagues in each of the four Provinces and the South East with an All-Ireland Playoff at the end of the season.
There has been an Irish League since 2015 with Promotion/Relegation to the Provincial Leagues.
