Report

The Scottish Flag Football Association was an Independent Flag American Football Association, operating in Scotland from 2003 to 2007. It ran Leagues for Seniors, Youth, Juniors, and Cadets, and followed on from the Scottish Claymores Flag Football Leagues (NFL Europe).

The League Champions were Kirkcaldy Bulls (2003 to 2005), and then from 2006 to 2007 there was a separate North / East Conference (winners were again Kirkcaldy Bulls 2006 and 2007), and West / Central Conference (winners were Glasgow Hornets 2006 and Grangemouth Broncos 2007).

Report

The 1990 season for the Dublin Celts was a mixed one. They did poorly in the NCMMA, the British Second Level, losing all four matches, with another two cancelled, but they also played matches against Irish League teams, beating the Craigavon Cowboys once, and meeting them again in the Shamrock Bowl, the result of which is still disputed.

The highlight, however, was their victory in the Eurobowl over the Barcelona Boxers, the first by an Irish team in European American Football competitions, and in the following round, they went close against the Manchester spartans, one of the top teams in Britain, and indeed Europe, losing in the end only 12-28.

Report

The Liga Futbol Americano Profesional was the latest Profesional American Football League in Mexico, and probably the first one to be considered Major League. The first season in 2016 was won by CDMX Mayas, 29-13 versus Raptors de Edomex. The Regular Season featured four teams, with all games played in Mexico City, CDMX Mayas and Raptors de Edomex finishing joint top with 4-2 records, with CDMX Eagles in third on 3-3 and CDMX Condors last on 1-5.

CDMX is shorthand for Ciudad de Mexico – Mexico City and Edomex is a local name for Estado de Mexico – Mexico State: the State immediately west of the Federal District (Mexico City). Mexico is divided into 32 States and one Federal District.

Report

Futbol Americano Mexico (FAM) was started in 2018, playing its first season in 2019, as a rival to the Liga Futbol Americano Profesional (LFA) in Mexico. It was the first league other than the NFL to play by NFL rules, with the exception of overtime, which is by NCAA rules. All other leagues outside of America, bar the Canadian Football League (which has its own rules) are played under NCAA rules. [Ref: 4]

Pioneros de Queretaro won the first FAM Final, defeating Centauros de Ciudad Juarez 16-0. Pioneros thus won what was essentially a promotion to the ranks of the LFA for 2020. The regular season was very competitive, with no team finishing better than 5-3 and no team worse than 3-5. Four of the five teams made the playoffs: Pionerors de Queretaro beat Titanes CDMX 13-12 in a close encounter in the second semi-final, while in the first, Centauros de Ciudad Juarez, ranked second for the playoffs due to a ruling from the administration, beat Bulldogs de Naucalpan 22-14 in the first semi-final.
