Report
Southern Sundevils won the British Senior Flag League’s 5on5 Tournament in Bournemouth on 16th December 2001. Beach Bowl I featured seven teams each playing a 4 game league with no playoffs. The Sundevils won all four of their games, with Bournemouth Raiders in second on 3-1. Ryan McKeon, a player with an Irish name made a number of crucial tackles for the Bournemouth Raiders in their victories over Leicester Eagles (13-12) and North Devon Dogs (18-14).
Brockenhurst Exiles, a team made up of Youth Kitted players did very well against the Adult Flag players, also finishing 3-1 in third, while Leicester Eagles and North Devon Dogs both finished 2-2. North Devon Dogs had left Barnstaple at 5:30 AM in order to be in Bournemouth in time for the first games. Birmingham Raiders and Sussex Thunder while both losing all four games were competitive throughout.
